The principle of valve-regulated lead-acid batteries: traditional flooded batteries have a large amount of free electrolyte, and there are problems such as acid leakage and acid splashing during use: and it needs to add acid and water regularly, which is troublesome to maintain; in addition, in At the end of charging, the precipitated gas will bring out sulfuric acid and produce acid mist, which will not only pollute the environment, but also corrode surrounding equipment. These problems of flooded lead-acid batteries have prompted the development of low-maintenance, maintenance-free and sealed batteries. In order to solve the battery maintenance problems such as adding acid and water on a regular basis, people first developed low-maintenance and maintenance-free battery technology; in order to solve the batterys acid splashing and leakage problems, they also developed a non-flowing electrolyte technology. The successful R and D of maintenance-free technology and non-flowing electrolyte technology further gave birth to valve-regulated lead-acid batteries.
The maintenance-free technology of sealed lead-acid batteries mainly includes two aspects: 1. The oxygen circulation technology absorbed by the cathode will gradually generate oxygen when the positive electrode is fully charged. The generated oxygen passes through a certain channel to the negative electrode and is absorbed by the negative electrode. Reconstituted water, the generated water is returned to the positive electrode. Without new material production and net loss, the battery can be sealed and maintenance-free. When using this technology, the design of positive limit capacity and excessive negative electrode is generally adopted to ensure that hydrogen is not easy to precipitate; oxygen transmission channels must be ensured in the battery to facilitate the smooth progress of oxygen circulation.
